I made a commitment a long time ago to only feed myself the best of everything, and that’s not limited to my food choices. As a mind-body-health expert, a mom, and someone who guides people toward living a life of truly awesome health every single day, I know the importance of how we choose to nourish ourselves—inside and out.
Eating whole, unprocessed foods from clean, sustainable sources is one big way to support a healthy body and an active lifestyle, but it’s not the only way. It’s also important to feed our spirits with nourishing thoughts, consistent self-care practices, and fulfilling relationships and experiences. And one thing a lot of women don’t consider is the way we support (or damage) our health with what we put on our skin—our makeup and skincare routines should nourish us, too.
When I turned 40 last year, I made a decision to really focus on taking care of my skin. For years I suffered from cystic acne, and masked the problem with prescription medications (every prescription the the market!) and beauty products filled with toxic chemicals. Little did I know that I was making the problem worse on the inside and outside.
When I found out that even my favorite “all-natural” and “organic” beauty products contained harmful ingredients, I was not only disappointed, I was scared. To make matters worse, my daughter was using the same products. The beauty industry is almost COMPLETELY unregulated, and where regulations exist, they’re outdated and ineffective. I had to make a change, and fast! I’ll admit that I’m someone who wants to look good and maintain a youthful, vibrant appearance, but I’m not willing to risk my health in that pursuit.
So, many hours and months of research followed. I sought help from experts and started cleaning up my routine, product by product. And spent time reading books like No More Dirty Looks and checking all my products on the website EWG.org.
Which leads me to why I’m sharing my story here. I don’t just want to help myself and my family, I want to help you and your family, too. We should all be able to use amazing products that help us feel our best without fear of them poisoning us.
The final steps of my journey landed me in partnership with an incredible brand that’s not only making beautiful, clean, and sustainable beauty and skincare product for its customers, it’s creating change in the world through a safe skincare movement. Beautycounter is dedicated to making changes on the legislative level, taking action in Washington and working to reform the current laws and regulations.
Please take a few minutes to watch this video and find out why I’m so excited about this brand. Thanks for taking the time to be here and read my story. <3
Let me tell you about the products!
Beautycounter is dedicated to both product performance and safety. This combination of safer ingredients and products that work is extremely rare. I know, because I’ve tried them ALL.
Some natural cosmetic brands use only 100% organic ingredients. This is as pure as makeup can get, but often, the performance is lacking. While Beautycounter uses both synthetic and organic ingredients, they never compromise on the safety of the ingredients. Beautycounter has developed a groundbreaking and rigorous ingredient screening process, looking for data on skin irritation, carcinogenicity, reproductive toxicity, cumulative exposure (are we exposed to this chemical from other sources) and more. Every single Beautycounter product is listed on EWG’s Skindeep database.
I made better choices for my health one step at a time. Start your journey to a healthier, more beautiful you by switching to a safer version of your beauty routine by choosing products from Beautycounter.
Every small step—every mindful choice—leads to a better tomorrow for you and the people you love. And when you make a purchase from Beautycounter, you support their efforts to make change for women and girls all over the world.
