Grown in South America, Maca is a cruciferous vegetable (yep, same family as broccoli and cabbage!) and an adaptogenic herb. Adaptogenic herbs help the body adapt and adjust to physiological stressors. Maca has been known to boost energy, balance hormones and act as an aphrodisiac. Awww, yeah.
Maca comes in powder or capsule form, but I prefer powder. It has a nutty sweetness to it and can be added to smoothies, puddings, cereal (hot or cold), homemade ice cream, and juices. Or whatever else you want to experiment putting maca on! 1 teaspoon serving will do ya GOOD!
